ATSF 298993 Ft-93 10-pack Fuel Foiler Spine Car
PRE-PAINT
Here are photos of the car after the majority of construction was finished. Just before painting,
I temporarily installed the trucks and Intermountain fine-tread 28" wheel sets to do a test run
on the Carquinez Model Railroad Society layout to confirm the car operated well.
I discovered some of the trucks "hunted" (shimmied back and forth). I solved this by adding
Kadee 0.010" ring spacers between the bolsters and trucks at the nine mid-unit joints.
After painting and decaling, I added a few final details and then weathering.
For clarity, the order of units is, from the brake end:
B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-J-A
As with all freight cars, when facing the brake end with the brake wheel,
the car's "left side" is on your left and its "right side" is on your right.
